The Future Of The Marketing Cosmos
For the past few weeks now I have been pondering the future of digital marketing. I have spent many a night not counting sheep to get to sleep but in fact pondering the marketing cosmos ... This is my thoughts.
First and foremost, as more and more millennial's come to age and become serious consumers, traditional marketing techniques will not be as effective as they used to be. Recent research suggest that millennial's 'white noise' adverts of most types, even the traditional golden avenue of TV advertising. With this is mind marketers needs to get with the times and get engaging. They're are numerous ways this can be achieved. Firstly create content which consumers can interact with, for example, ask them questions, show pictures, post videos and maybe even post some meme's ... millennial's love those.
Secondly, which is quite risky, create social media content which is controversial which will grab the attention of consumers. This can be done by either 'having banter' with other willing social media accounts, as recently seen between O2 and Vodafone, or it can be done by being opinionated ..... which is the most risky way.
My second epiphany was that consumers are becoming more and more withdrawn when it comes to interacting with company's. This could be due to the increasing bombardment from pushy advertisers trying to get their attention. To help counteract this make sure your social media presence isn't robotic .... no one likes talking to an answer machine so no one would like talking to an automated social media page.
Now I understand that automated social media software is important to marketers ... I know this because I use it but what I'm trying to say is interact with people who like/share/re-tweet your content. A simple thank you will be enough to form a relationship with your community.
And there we have it ... a part of the marketing cosmos is clearer and hopefully this post will help you on your journey.
Thank you for spending the time to read my post. If you like them feel free to share them on your social media pages.
